Hubungan Screen-Time dengan Gangguan Emosi dan Perilaku pada Anak Usia 10-17 Tahun dengan Leukemia = Relationship Between Screen-Time and Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in Children Aged 10-17 Years with Leukemia.

Background: Cancer is still the highest cause of morbidity and mortality due to disease in children. The number continues to increase yearly, especially Acute Leukemia as the most common type (30-40% of cases). Acute leukemia consists of ALL and LMA, which generally affects children aged < 15 years and adolescents. Definitive therapy is long and unpleasant, so that it can cause emotional and behavioral disturbances in children. On the other hand, post-pandemic life has also increased the use of gadgets among adolescents, contributing to emotional and behavioral disturbances. This study aims to determine the relationship between screen time and emotional-behavior disturbances in adolescents with leukemia, which is rarely found in research. Methods: The design of this study was a cross-sectional study conducted at the Children's Hematooncology Polyclinic at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo in November 2022. This study used the screen-time data instrument and the Indonesian version of the PSC-17 questionnaire. Analysis was carried out univariately and bivariate with Fisher's test using the SPSS version 24 application. Results: The number of adolescent leukemia in RSCM was 23 people, evenly distributed according to age, dominated by boys (13/23), type of leukemia ALL (22/23), elementary school education level (12/23), middle school father and mother education level (11/23; 9/23), family income < UMP DKI Jakarta (10/23), and all of them received family emotional support. The median values for age and illness duration (months) were 12.94 (10.05-17.18) and 16 (0.83-96). The screen-time level is mostly > 2 hours/day (22/23), with the most frequent use being > 6 hours/day (12/23) and an average of 6.5 ± 3.25 hours/day. The most common types of use are playing games, viewing entertainment content, accessing social media, studying, and watching movies online. Emotional and behavioral disorders that occur in 2/23 people are internalization disorders (1) and externalization disorders (1). The relationship between screen time and emotional and behavioral disorders is inconclusive. Conclusion: The high level of screen time in adolescents with leukemia needs to be educated to parents and adolescents, and two patients with emotional and behavioral disorders need further examination.
